Summary

Danhausen now has a path to WWE Backlash 2026, but only if he can find somebody willing to stand beside him.

On the May 1 episode of SmackDown, Nick Aldis told Danhausen he could get a Backlash match against The Miz and Kit Wilson, but only if he secured a tag team partner first. Danhausen then took that search online and began publicly recruiting a long list of names to join him for the event.

Danhausen takes the search beyond SmackDown

After the segment aired, Danhausen used social media to call for help from several major WWE names and legends, including Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. He also reached out to AJ Styles, John Cena and others while jokingly offering $400 for one night of assistance.

That fits the same offbeat presentation Danhausen has leaned on outside the ring as well, including the attention around the so-called Danhausen curse.

What Danhausen's search means for WWE Backlash

Danhausen's partner hunt gives WWE an easy way to turn this Backlash match into either a comedy reveal or a surprise cameo, and that keeps The Miz and Kit Wilson tied to a storyline with some room to grow before the show. If WWE decides not to go with a major legend, the setup still gives Danhausen a flexible opening for whoever eventually fills the spot.
