The promotion had already advertised HOOK for the card, but his opponent was not confirmed until Wednesday's announcement. Joey Janela now steps into that spot for one of the featured matches on the show.

What HOOK's GCW debut could mean

Putting HOOK opposite Janela gives the debut a recognizable GCW name rather than a one-off undercard opponent. It also gives HOOK another chance to stay visible outside AEW television after he challenged Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship on the May 2 episode of Collision.

Janela also comes into the bout after headlining Spring Break X in April, where he lost a 28-minute singles match to Brodie Lee Jr. That gives GCW a matchup between one of its most familiar names and an AEW talent making his first in-ring appearance for the promotion.
