Summary
Kevin Knight says his AEW Dynasty breakthrough means even more because it brought him the first singles title of his career. After winning the TNT Championship in the Casino Gauntlet match by pinning Daniel Garcia, Knight said the moment felt especially significant because it came one year after his AEW pay-per-view debut.
Knight also tied the win to JetSpeed, noting that Mike Bailey was part of the Dynasty match as well. That connection led him to name Bailey as a potential future challenger for the TNT Title, even with Claudio Castagnoli already lined up as his first defense on the April 15 Spring BreakThru edition of Dynamite.
Quote from Kevin Knight
Reflecting on the title win at the post-show media scrum, Knight said:
"Well, this being my first singles (title) ever, whether it’s on the indies, in New Japan and AEW, so for the fact that it happened on the anniversary of my pay-per-view debut here in AEW, a year later, with my tag team partner in the match, it certainly means a lot for me to be the new face of TNT. It’s a lot of pressure but I think The Jet is built for it. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. It’s so crazy because me and ‘Speedball’ are a tag team but we’ve won trios, we’ve won singles so, I think this is the next thing between us and being tag champs in the future so, I think it’s a great step in the right direction."
Knight later went on to say:
"This is a team win for me and ‘Speedball’ (Mike Bailey). I’ve known him before I got here, and we’ve had great chemistry. He only wants the best for me. I only want the best for him, and I would love to defend this against my tag team partner if you (Tony Khan) would allow it. If we can set something up because me and ‘Speedball,’ we bring the best out of each other. Any time we get together, it’s like brothers just going at it, cousins just going at it so, we love to go at it."
What Knight's comments mean for the TNT title
Knight putting Bailey's name forward immediately gives the TNT title scene a second layer beyond the Claudio defense already on the books. If AEW follows that thread, the belt could become part of a JetSpeed rivalry after Bailey was already in the spotlight recently in his AEW Dynamite clash with MJF.
Just as important, Knight framed the title win as a marker of his rise rather than a one-night upset. With Castagnoli waiting on Dynamite: Spring BreakThru, AEW now has a clear chance to define whether Knight's reign starts as a true singles breakout or as a short-lived shock result.
