Summary

Rey Mysterio says the danger of a ladder match at WrestleMania 42 is easy to accept when the Intercontinental Championship is hanging above the ring.

Mysterio recently returned from injury and was announced for the multi-man ladder match for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 42. He said the match immediately brought excitement, followed by a reminder of how much punishment comes with that stipulation.

With the event now close, Mysterio made it clear he believes the reward outweighs the risk. He is chasing a third reign as Intercontinental Champion and said that goal is enough to put the physical toll to one side for the night.

Quote from Rey Mysterio

"I got butterflies in my stomach right now as you speak. Once they told me I was in a ladder match, I got excited, and then I thought about it like, wait a minute, this is a ladder match. But the prize is worth the risk, Intercontinental Champion, which I've been twice already. I put all the harm aside, go out there focused, and make sure I can get that title, Sunday night."

Mysterio later went on to say:

"My God, incredibly. I mean, I've been doing this for over four decades now. So I think out of all the competitors in my match, I think I have the most experience. So I'm gonna pull a couple tricks up my sleeve to make sure I get that win."

What Rey Mysterio's experience could mean at WrestleMania 42

Mysterio framed this match around experience as much as urgency, and that matters in a ladder match where timing and ring awareness can be just as important as durability. If he can turn that veteran edge into a cleaner route to the championship, it would give him another major WrestleMania moment while putting a proven star back into the Intercontinental title picture.

It also fits the way Mysterio has been talking about his legacy heading into the show. He recently looked back on his WrestleMania 21 match with Eddie Guerrero as one of the defining bouts of his career, and WrestleMania 42 now gives him a chance to add another signature chapter on a very different stage.
