Summary

Taryn Terrell says her favorite match from her TNA run was the ladder match she had with Gail Kim on the July 11, 2013 edition of iMPACT!, not the last woman standing match many fans might expect.

Terrell explained that the bout stayed with her because of the reaction backstage once it was over. She said the standing ovation she received after coming through the curtain meant even more because it came from fellow wrestlers who had been watching the match.

The memory adds another layer to a period of her career that has been back in focus lately after Terrell spoke about the nerves she felt ahead of her TNA Sacrifice return.

Quote from Taryn Terrell

Speaking on Medd In The Morning, Terrell said:

"I will say that that would have been my ladder match with Gail Kim. A lot of people would think that maybe it would have been my last woman standing match, but it’s actually my ladder match. When I went back through the curtains, there was a standing ovation, which was really cool from everybody, and that meant a lot to me because you know, as somebody who also watches wrestling, it’s like, wow. Like, to know that they were, that wrestlers were watching it and they approve is, like, probably one of the coolest things. Having peers say, that was awesome, that was just really neat. It also turned out I was pregnant during that match, and I had no idea. Because it was very, very early on, like, before you would ever know you were pregnant. So it’s not like I would have… I know controversial. It’s not like I would have gone and wrestled while I was pregnant. It was just very, very early on. So I would have had no ability to know that I was pregnant at that moment. So the really cool thing though, is that I, I always think about that, that my daughter was with me in that match."

What The Gail Kim Match Means In Terrell's TNA Story

Terrell choosing the Gail Kim ladder match over her last woman standing match says plenty about what she values from that run. The backstage ovation matters because it frames the bout as one that earned respect inside the locker room, not just a big stipulation match fans remember years later.

Her comments also strengthen the connection between her current TNA comeback and one of the most memorable rivalries of her original run. Even without announcing any new match tied to Kim, Terrell is pointing fans back to a defining Knockouts-era performance that still shapes how her TNA tenure is viewed.
