Summary
TNA is reviving Lockdown for Sunday, August 23, with the show set to air live on pay-per-view from Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The promotion said every match on the card will take place inside a steel cage, and Lethal Lockdown is also returning as part of the event.
The show will mark the first Lockdown event since 2016. It will also be TNA's first event at the building formerly known as the UIC Pavilion.
TNA also announced a group of names scheduled to appear at the event, including The Hardys, Nic Nemeth, Mustafa Ali, Moose, AJ Francis, Mike Santana, Steve Maclin, Brian Myers, Eric Young and Leon Slater. The Knockouts division is also set to be featured, with Ash By Elegance, Tessa Blanchard, Elayna Black and Indi Hartwell among those listed.
What Lockdown's return means for TNA
Bringing Lockdown back gives TNA another one of its historic event brands at a time when the company has leaned heavily into its identity and legacy. The return of Lethal Lockdown also restores one of the promotion's best-known signature match concepts, which gives the August 23 card a clear hook before full match announcements arrive later in the summer.
Chicago matters here too. Running the event at Credit Union 1 Arena ties the comeback to a venue with a long wrestling history, and that helps position the show as more than just another themed special on the calendar.
