Summary

WWE SmackDown could be headed back to a two-hour format later this summer.

A new report stated that the Friday night show is expected to drop from three hours to two in the near future. The report pointed to "Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman" airing at 10 p.m. ET on Fridays as part of the expected lineup change.

A separate report said the switch is expected either in the final week of June or the first week of July. WWE has not officially confirmed the change.

SmackDown returned to a three-hour runtime at the start of January after spending the second half of 2025 as a two-hour show.

What a two-hour SmackDown could mean for WWE

If the change happens, WWE would be reversing a format decision it only made a few months ago, which would make SmackDown's weekly structure one of the company's more notable television adjustments this year. That would also line up with other summer scheduling moves, including NXT premium live events shifting to The CW.

For viewers, a shorter SmackDown would likely mean a tighter weekly show and less room for filler across the Friday night broadcast. Until WWE confirms the move, though, the expected timeline and final network schedule remain unannounced.
